FAQ

Questions families ask

If the answer you need is not here, ask directly — Kate replies personally.

  • When should we start working together?

The Comprehensive package is built around 11th grade or the summer before senior year, which is when course planning, testing, and the college list are fluid and adjustable. Earlier is fine — starting in 9th or 10th grade means high school coursework can be shaped deliberately rather than corrected later. Families who come in during senior year are usually best served by the Empowerment sessions, which target a specific deadline.

  • What actually happens in the self-assessment?

Students work through structured instruments covering personality, career interests, values, and work style. The output is not a label — it is a personal mission statement and a short list of directions that hold up under questioning, which is what makes the eventual college list defensible rather than arbitrary.

  • How is the college list built?

Around twelve schools, chosen against the student’s assessment results, academic record, and financial picture — not against a rankings table. Every school on the list should be one the student would genuinely like to attend.

  • Do you guarantee admission to a particular school?

No, and you should be skeptical of anyone who does. What the process guarantees is that the student understands why they are applying where they are applying, and that the application represents them accurately.

  • Are sessions in person or virtual?

Both. Most families work virtually, which keeps scheduling flexible around school, sports, and work. In-person sessions are available in the region.

  • Do you work with homeschooled students?

Yes. Homeschooled applicants need a transcript that admissions committees can read and a narrative that explains the path — both are part of the specialty engagement, alongside essay support and college transition resources.

  • We are living abroad, or applying to universities abroad. Can you help?

Yes. There is a dedicated track for U.S. residents applying to university abroad and for third culture kids returning to the U.S. for higher education. The two systems expect different things, and the application has to satisfy whichever one it lands in.

  • Can you help with financial aid and scholarships?

The Comprehensive package includes a financial aid information session. Scholarship application guidance and financial aid negotiation support are available as add-ons to Core, and as standalone Empowerment sessions.

  • How do we get started?

Fill out the intake form. It takes a few minutes and covers the basics — grade, goals, and what has you looking for help. Kate follows up to schedule an introductory call.

Still deciding?
